Bug Description

i use Ubuntu 7.10 with a Clevo D631S Laptop. the system is up to date.
it can work for hours some time with no problem (intensive multimedia + internet + word processing)
and then i click on a launch bar icon or a desktop icon (starting open office or firefox)
and the system's harddisk led blinks for a second and the entire system crash (immediately)
and restarts.

i've tried to remove wireless card (rt2500) / disable acpi / disable cpu throttling
made a custom kernel with minimized set of modules... nothing helped.
i've started the system up with a live DSL 4.1 cd (kernel version 2.4)
and it crashed after some time too :-(
i've tested the RAM with memtest. (seams ok)

no log files are available since it crashes immediately :-(

any ideas ?

Hi,
Could you try to give some more informations?

You can look at /var/log/syslog files if there's something wrong.
Or, try install apport look if it can help you reporting a backtrace.

Thanks.
