Bug Description

Binary package hint: debianutils

This bug has been submitted upstream to Debian, with a patch:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=482774

I'm adding here to create a "watch" on the Debian bug.

I have a test package available in my PPA for Ubuntu:
https://edge.launchpad.net/~kirkland/+archive

Hopefully Debian will take these changes promptly and we can sync the Debian package in time for Intrepid.

Debian upstream only raises the objection that debianutils is currently frozen.

In the meantime, I suggest we apply the attached patch to Intrepid's debianutils, and circle back with Debian when their archives thaw.

cron will need the fix attached to Bug #222830 to use sensible-editor in order to take advantage of this functionality.

Updated patch attached, based on feedback from Kees.

 * removed a bit of the patch where an .orig file snuck in
 * removed a bit of the patch that removed .gitignore
 * adjusted the "Maintainer" field appropriately

  * sensible-editor.1: Update "see also" section to point to select-editor(1).

  * Modify Maintainer value to match the DebianMaintainerField
    specification.
