Fixed in upstream SVN.

It should apply cleanly to current upstream, from packaging.

[ Note to self: The sed for couchdb.postrm shouldn't be removed. ]

Unassigning from myself, I'm unable to build this in my build chroot (not couchdb's fault).

This bug was fixed in the package couchdb - 0.10.0~svn818859-0ubuntu2

---------------
couchdb (0.10.0~svn818859-0ubuntu2) karmic; urgency=low

  * Backport future patches that fixes replication crash for authenticated
    connections from other couchdb instances. (LP: #439499)
  * Remove explicit version from debian/couchdb-bin/postinst .
