Bug Description

Binary package hint: conduit

Hardy is currently shipping with Conduit 0.3.6. With the changes in 0.3.7 and 0.3.8 numerous bugs were fixed, including many involving Flickr, F-Spot, and Tomboy, as well as general clean-up and solidification of the code (a 0.4 release is upcoming soon). Additionally, support was added for syncing Gmail contacts, an often-requested feature. In order that we might ship as few bugs as possible and deliver the most sought-after features reasonably possible, I think it would be highly beneficial to include those changes in 8.04, especially given its LTS status.

I have not testing building and installing myself, but have been following the Conduit development mailing list and there do not appear to be any regressions that have been mentioned there. (If I had the time to mess with the packaging / building I might be able to give it a shot, but it will be far more effecient for someone more experienced with the package to try that step instead.)

Hi,

marking as invalid: FreezeExceptions won't get granted, if noone actually volunteers to do the work. Please reopen, if either you or s.o. else steps forward to do this.

Cheers,

   * New Upstream Version (Closes: #466077)
   * debian/control: suggest mencoder and ffmpeg for AV converters, and
     recommend python-gpod for iPod support.
   * debian/patches:
     + conduit.desktop: update, some of the changes already included upstream
     + external-libgmail: disabled. Conduit needs SVN version of google module
   * debian/control:
     + remove python-gdata and python-libgmail dependencies, as internal copies
     are being used

Personally, I'm not excite about all the internal copies. Why do we really
want this.

Yes, but it's also a question of if there's sufficient benifit from the new
release to make supporting the duplicate code worthwhile.

Meanwhile, 0.3.9 is released... http://www.conduit-project.org/wiki/0.3.9

Pity, as in the changelog added "Add Conduit documentation (Brent Gueth) ", as well as other useful change such as "Improved removable volume support (like USB keys). Now, inserting a USB key that has been synchronized on another computer will automatically create a preconfigured dataprovider for synchronizing the folders of interest. "

Perhaps after hardy is released ^^.

Unsubscribing ubuntu-universe-sponsors as Scott had objections against the sync and anyway Debian has a newer version now.

If someone can test this and explain the benefits, I think it's worth considering.

Upstream was planning [1] to do a (near-)stable 0.4 release right after the GNOME 2.22 release. It's should be coming soon, so it's probably a good idea to contact and ask whether the ETA is within limits of possible inclusion in Hardy.

This did not make it into Hardy. It will be automatically sync'ed for Intrepid, so no bug needed.
