cfv package recommends bittorrent | bittornado, not transmission

Bug Description

Binary package hint: cfv

In Hardy, the default bittorrent is Transmission. However, the "cvf" utility still recommends "bittorrent | bittornado". Installing with `sudo aptitude install -r cvf` prompts you to download an alternative client, even if transmission is installed.

I would recommend that these recommendations be removed, and perhaps replaced by transmission. Even better would be to link to a virtual package which is provided by each of these (i.e. "bittorrent-client"), although I don't think one currently exists.

This seems like a relatively easy fix. If there is interest and no package maintainer, I could come up with a debdiff / patch.

Details:
The source package you found the bug in:
cfv

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System -> About Ubuntu.
$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 8.04.1
Release: 8.04

2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy packagename' or by checking in Synaptic.
$ aptitude show cfv | grep Version
Version: 1.18.1-2

3) What you expected to happen
$ aptitude show cfv | grep Recommends
Recommends: transmission

4) What happened instead
$ aptitude show cfv | grep Recommends
Recommends: bittorrent | bittornado

This has been fixed in the latest version (1.18.2-1) in Debian, which
is available already in Intrepid. The fix used was to downgrade the
Recommends to a Suggests. For a good description of why it was needed
before see:

Changed in cfv:
status: New → Fix Released

Hi Cameron,

After reading the upstream bug report, I think it is good to change the link from "Recommends" to "Suggests". However, I still feel that it would be better to use "transmission" instead of "bittorrent | bittornado", since Transmission is the default. Granted, the "Suggests" field really has no bearing on functionality for any apt- client in Ubuntu. But, it's misleading to imply that a cfv user who already has Transmission installed, that they will gain any cfv functionality by downloading either bittorrent or bittornado.

Another alternative would be to add "transmission" to the OR'ed list of suggests packages. This would also make sense.

This bug was closed as "Fix Released", but I don't think the problem has quite been addressed yet.

If you reread the bug report, you'll see that you DO gain
functionality by having bittorrent or bittornado installed. cfv will
use the python libraries they include to open and read torrent files.
Try uninstalling both bittorrent and bittornado and then try and
verify a downloaded torrent file. It shouldn't work.
