Bug Description

Binary package hint: apt

Hi,

I am using a fresh install of Kubuntu 8.04. In konsole, or on a virtual terminal, whenever I use a command like

sudo aptitude install netbeans
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo aptitude update

etc, my system hangs momentarily after pressing the "Enter" key. It's almost as if it's "searching" for something while hung, then responds absolutely normal. This does not happen when using "dpkg".

This behaviour did not occur on kubuntu 7.10.
Thanks.

I noticed one more thing - after typing "sudo aptitude install xxx" for example, the first line aptitude prints is

Reading package lists... Done

My system hangs after pressing enter, and getting that line. And the hang is absolute - mouse cursor doesn't move, and music playing in mplayer stops for that short time (few seconds).

This is very strange, I've never had such a problem before.
