I have almost identical message - only noticeable difference is "line 12" for "line 10). But, no longer have the "E: Sub-process ......." section.

Sorry, I cannot be any more exact about how problem came about I have part-broken re-fixed the system trying to get sound to work (removed StudioUbuntu) and then dbus/hal problems. I also switch kernels as synaptic appears to install 64 bit versions for my old Pentium 4 with hyperthreading.

If you do want any terminal outputs I will try to oblige.

I can confirm those error messages, but nevertheless package installation runs fine. So if you get an error of failed installation you have another problem than this.

When installing something, or removing an application I also get the same warning. It hasn't caused me any trouble yet. I'm running Intrepid, the 64bit version.

Same problem even at this late date. FWIW, this is also with 64bit Intrepid on a machine that previously ran Ubuntu Studio until the RT kernel stopped working. Seems like quite a coincidence, no? Apt-get updates do procede after the warning messages, so this is just annoying spam for me. But worrisome. Let me know if there's any data gathering that would be helpful.
