Bug Description

Binary package hint: amarok-xine

Xine and Amarok has started to act buggy. Upon every song switch, I get a dialogue about an error that Xine cannot initialize any sound drivers.

However, the music keeps playing and if I live with tens and eventually hundreds of these dialogue boxes (I move them away to desktop 4...) I can still listen to my music. 'tis mighty annoying however, and a very new behavior (since a 3 days back).

Rebooting doesn't help.

Clicking "ok" on any dialogue (god forbid) makes amarok go wild and rapidly step through every song in the playlist, marking them grey as goes by and eventually crashing (an btw on the way complaining that kmail is not available).

This report is done upon one of these crashes.

Aha, I had switched backend to oss. Now I have switched back to alsa and it works like a charm again.

Guess this bug is about that Amarok should be able to cope with Xine errors in a more elegant way.

However low prio for alsa-users...

This bug will become invalid with the release of Amarok 2, and since Amarok 1 is on low-development mode it's unlikely the error coping will improve in Amarok 1 - also IMO OSS should be removed completely from xine on Ubuntu.
Anyway, closing as invalid, I hope you're ok with this :)
