Bug Description

Kubuntu 7.10 Live CD installation

After installing normally, and trying to play an MP3 file through Amarok, it asks to go and get the required MP3 codecs. It fails and crashes itself after clicking Yes, and it reports that the package databse is already in use, when it isn't. Adept is not running, or Synaptic or anything which can be seen to be using it. This also happens AFTER rebooting, just in case it was locked for some reason, but the same problem again.

KDE backtrace if it helps (after Amarok crashes) :

This issue should actually be fixed in Kubuntu Hardy 8.04
First of all please try to upgrade you packages - especially Amarok (latest version is available in the gutsy-backport repositories). If this doesn't fix the issue, please execute /usr/lib/amarok/install-mp3 manually on a terminal and paste the output in this report.
