false "suspend error" warning after resume

Bug Description

I have Ubuntu Hardy installed on a HP Compaq nx6325 laptop. Suspending (sleep) works fine, but when I resume from suspend the laptop beeps 4 times and I get a popup "problem with suspending: suspending failed" (translated from my language) even though everything works fine after resuming. Gutsy rarely gave me such warnings, without any beeps, while on Hardy it happens everytime.

I think it might be a kernel bug, but I didn't test it with other desktop environments. See my attached dmesg log.
The interesting part is:
[ 0.365811] CPU1 is up
[ 0.369306] Clockevents: could not switch to one-shot mode: lapic is not functional.
[ 0.369309] Could not switch to high resolution mode on CPU 1

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Could you try to reproduce the same with Ubuntu 9.04 or 8.10? Thanks in advance.
