Bug Description

We encourage bittorrent downloads in the gutsy beta release email, but there are some roadblocks, even for savvy users.

http://us.releases.ubuntu.com/7.10/ points to a missing page: http://bittorrent.com/introduction.html instead you get redirected to ads for movies.....

Looks like you want this instead: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BitTorrent

The beta release page also hides all the torrent files way down among the mind-numbing list. Can links to them be added to the text above? Consider this a vote for resolving https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu-website/+bug/93787

I just noticed that there are actually lots of links to the missing http://bittorrent.com/introduction.html file - one for each torrent file listed on the page, in the descriptive comment on the right.

Also maybe we can highlight the torrent links in a different colour
as it's quite easy to select the wrong one via the long list.

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BitTorrent

yes it would be a better link :)

thanks, the changed URL has been committed to the scripts that generate the index pages. The next publishing run (i.e., for 7.10 final) will reflect this change.

Thanks - looks good for Gutsy, and that's of course the biggest
impact!

But we're still pointing folks to the movie advertising on the other
release pages I've checked, in particular all the torrent links on the
dapper LTS release page:

Thanks. I've done:

  find \( -name \*.html -o -name \.htaccess \) -print | xargs fgrep -l bittorrent.com | xargs sed -i 's,http://bittorrent.com/introduction.html,https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BitTorrent,g'

... which should sort this out once it propagates to mirrors.
