Make Distribution.currentseries an explicit DB column

Bug Description

The logic in Distribution.currentseries is expensive and also rather byzantine. No reason not to make the currentseries an explicitly stored column, even if we don't expose any UI to modify it -- displaying it and using it internally would make things easier for everybody.
