Bug Description

I'm running with the current build from Mar. 17, 2009. Slow/slugish UI in netbook-launcher happens both on livecd and when installed. CPU and memory usage were low. I'm attaching a video that shows what I was seeing, and yes it was really that sluggish, not just the video capture.

The system has an Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller

As expected, switching to classic mode desktop rather than using launcher does not exhibit the same sluggishness.

Thanks for the extra info!

It seems that it's definitely a driver problem, and a patch has been made to fix the issue. We're trying to push for inclusion as soon as possible. The corresponding bug-report is https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/349314, you can track that bug for the fix (feel free to comment on it too).

Changed in netbook-remix-launcher:
status: New → Invalid

As previously mentioned, please look at https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/349314.

That bug contains a kernel which should fix the issue. Unfortunately it seems that the patch was committed to Jaunty, and then reverted. It will probably land as a stable-release-update, but you should be able to use it now and get performance back.
