Bug Description

We should be able to hide a partition in the right sidebar.

Many netbooks have a recovery partition and having that shown on the list of available partitions could be quite bad (if the user decides to mount it an play around).

Having a exception list in gconf would work.

The latest launcher will load a string list from /apps/ume-launcher/volume_exclude_list which it will use to determine which volumes to show.

On startup from a terminal, the launcher will print a list of volumes like:
***Volume Added: NAME UID

where UID will be /org/freedesktop/foo/bar.

Add the UIDs that should be excluded into the gconf list, and restart the launcher.

These partitions are now being displayed in the "Files & Folders" tab. I cannot exclude them using the previous gconf method. Thanks.

@bart -- thanks for bringing this up. We actually use code that closely matches that of nautilus for determining which drives to show. Could you please attach the following information so I can try and determine why your still seeing the drives:

1. Screenshot of Files & Folders with the offending drive visible
2. Screenshot of Nautilus's sidebar (so I can see if it also shown there)
3. The output of hal-device

Tis bug is still alive in Uuntu Lucid Lynx Netbook Remix. The partition are displayed in Files & Folders and there is no way to get rid of this.

Editing /apps/netbook-launcher/volume_exclude_list in the gconf editor won't change anything. Declare volumes in /etc/fstab with nouser,ro,noauto will only work for non-boot volume. I've try many tricks to fix this but the Windows 7 boot partition is still show up and readable/writable.

I had the same problem (UNE 10.04), but found a fix.

In GParted, add the "hidden" flag to the partition to hide.

Reboot to apply changes (just logoff won't work correctly).
