Bug Description

When editing what project a particular bug affects, the ajax spinner starts, but never seems to finish, and the project does not update. The change does take place, however, as I get email about the change, and if I refresh the page, the change is now reflected. This happened twice today, while other of the ajax edits went through just fine (notably status and assignment).

Bug 433995 should/could be fixed at the same time as this one.

I was just about to report this bug, it seems that it's the same issue.

My situation is - I created a new project and assigned a new bug to it. After that I needed to change the project's name, and I noticed the project name listed in "Affects" was still the old name. Everytime I try to edit it the system pops up an server error and the proccess isn't completed.

The attached screenshot shows what happens when I submit the form.

I'm seeing the same thing, but when I edit the Bug description. Saw on two machines, both with Firefox 3.5.3 (one Windows, one Karmic).

We observe the same problem when using the assignee widget. It looks like the problem may be getting the edited object's XHTML representation after modifying the value.

After changing the target the URL of the bug changes, causing a redirect. In order to serve the correct representation we append the accept value to the URL using the ws.accept parameter, but by the time we do that, the original accept is lost and we add the default application/json.

Un-assigning from milestone only because Tom is unavailable and this is a short (week long) release cycle. The work is basically done, I believe.

Also, we're no longer targeting bugs to milestones until they are ready to land now.

Tom, do you think OOPS-1440EC756 is this bug? Or related in some way? Martin A. got this OOPS while changing the target.

I think I encountered this today too: in Firefox 3.5.7 on Karmic+updates, I tried to edit the description of bug #506018. But after I clicked the green checkmark to submit my edit, the spinner started up and spun forever. Also, the edit did not take: when I tried just reloading the page, my edit was not there. Abel Deuring was able to make the edit for me, however (I don't know what browser he used).

Attaching a screenshot of what I saw while waiting for the edit to be accepted. (Note that no error box ever popped up, which makes me wonder if this is exactly the same bug others here are talking about.)
