Using the normal sans serif if based on beuno's mockup and by design.

I don't think using sans serif is a good idea.
Look for example at the summary of bug #392493. The "^" character points to the "n" letter of the "Window" word. Instead it should point to ")", like in <https://bugs.launchpad.net/terminator/+bug/392493/comments/0>.

Also look at the screenshot.

Martin A. can you comment? Should we use fixed-width for the description? Or some combination when dealing with code snippets, which I would guess is quite tricky to do right with the inline editor?

IMHO, launchpad should allow tagging text as fixed-width. It can make code snippets and program output easier to read on the web page.
