Bug Description

The new launchpad update has removed the table with the information on the current package versions from the left pane, that was handy to know if the user is running the current version or not

indeed - this is very important for MOTU as well.

Fixed in mainline r4831. Launchpad will now display not just the latest version of the package you're in the context for, but the latest version of every package against which the bug is filed (if the relevant distribution is managed in Launchpad).

I don't think that this is a helpful fix. It's extremely helpful to have the information about the version, the maintainer, the uploader, etc, like we had before in an obvious location, so that we can see it at a glance. Having to click, and even then only see part of the information, is suboptimal.

MOTU (particularly those sponsoring other people's work) regularly looks at this to determine a) who the last uploader was, b) what the most recent version was (to determine if it was a sync from debian, or has ubuntu changes), and a few other bits. A link to developer changelog would be very helpful too - MOTU's often end up looking up the changelogs, but that can go in a separate bug.

We can get this information from other places as well, but it is handy to have it in one place, right there when the bug is loaded.

I'd like to see the entire panel put back as it was before. If you're looking to remove panels, why not get rid of the big bug tag panels, or the search? (seeing as there's a global search up the top).

Ok, fair enough.

(And it's not a global search, but that's another story.;-)

Bother. This should happen only for distribution package contexts.
