Bug Description

Hello,

I'm a member of several teams on Launchpad. Yesterday, I received an email from somebody asking for some generic questions about Ubuntu. I replied to this person, but I'm very annoyed to have emails from people I don't know, and with no indication of how they got my email address.

This is the email that I received:

Hello, ...

This message was sent by Launchpad via the Contact user/team
link on your profile page. For more information see
https://help.launchpad.net/YourAccount/ContactingPeople

There were no indications that I received this email because I'm a member of 'Ubuntu UK'. I discovered that because another member of this group told me so (I wonder how he knew about me and my answer...)
Second, Ubuntu UK is a team of almost 500 people, so in effect you are allowing anybody to spam 500 people very easily.
Finally, this user could have been redirected to a more appropriate means of communication for his question, such as Launchpad answers or Ubuntuforums. So honestly contacting a team by email does not make sense, and it should redirect to the Answers page.

Regards,
Ludovic

I got the mail too. I wonder if this is because the ubuntu-uk team has no contact address?

I think you're right Alan, I've now set a contact address and hopefully that will work, I was surprised that to email all the memebers of the team individually was the default action. I also didn't realise until others mentioned that they had also recieved the email that it had come from "contacting the ubuntu-uk team"

I'm not sure how the system was set up before, but since whatever change happened recently I have been getting a *lot* of random emails sent to teams rather than me, which shouldn't be sent to those teams in the first place. Support developing with kdebarcode sent to ubuntu-irc-council for example.

I think there should be 2 things:
1) An option to control whether email gets sent to
     i, everyone
     ii, administrators
iii, or if it doesn't accept contact at all.
2) A part of the email that explains what page on launchpad the email came from.
     - Its all well and good making it clear that the email came from launchpad, but I'd rather know if an email was sent to me directly, or an entire team and I was bcc'd into it.

I can understand 1i could cause a little contention though.
