Bug Description

Trying to subscribe to a mailing list, I am told that

'<email address hidden>' doesn't seem to be a valid email address.

Well, it is. Please let the = sign be used. It's RFC-conforming.

We should also allow + sign as a valid character per bug 279844

The OP is right, = is legal (see RFC 2822) and I can't think of any reason not to allow it.

Indeed, it is. I have a branch ready for review which allows = in the local part. Note that AFAICT, bug 279844 is obsolete; +'s in email addresses already work.
