announcements feed on front page of launchpad.net does not correspond to front page news

Bug Description

The feeds link on https://launchpad.net needs to correspond to the "whats new" on the front page of launchpad.
The feeds link that is being served from the home page currently corresponds to +announcements.
This could be fixed by displaying +announcements on the front page, but even better would be to have a separate feed that corresponds to the "Whats new here" section.

This seems mutually exclusive with bug 129943, which suggests that the "What's new" items be pulled from a feed produced by news.launchpad.net. If that was done, you wouldn't need "to have a separate feed that corresponds to the 'Whats new here' section": such a feed would already exist, and you could <link> to it from the front page if desired.

I don't this is a high priority since the milestone was removed 6 months ago. This should be fixed when an opportunity presents itself.
