"Link to a bug report" is temperamental

Bug Description

When using the AJAXified "Link to a bug report" on a branch page, more often than not the spinner goes, there's a green flash, but then the bug link is not displayed. The bug link does not even appear if I immediately refresh the page. After a second or third refresh - so 10, 20 seconds later - the bug link will appear and the text will change to "Link to another bug report".

For me, it changed the text to "Link to another bug report", but didn't actually show the linked bug.

So, there are few issues here, but I've successfully reproduced what Jono saw. The error message that Firebug spits out is:

Y.Anim: invalid node: null

I assume that this is caused by the recent changes in the branch index page's markup. I'm looking into this now.

The other issue is that we don't really have a good error handling story just yet, but I'm working on that.

This is related to the bug where a post from the api doesn't tie the user to the master db.

Like I said in bug #447353, this is not really a Code team issue. It resulted in bug #447453 being filed, since I couldn't find the bug that everyone is talking about (I really looked). I've talked to Gary about it, and he's scheduling a fix. Also, because I'm not sure on the protocol here, I'm marking this bug as a duplicate of bug #447453, so subscribers can track progress while still closing this bug.
