I can't save changes in plasma

I'm getting this too, but I've configured my desktop to be a folder view of the desktop directory with a different wallpaper. If I log out and log back in, I get the default wallpaper and back to desktop view.

The changes are written to .kde/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc, but seem to be ignored.

Same here. Everytime I login I get the default wallpaper. The config changes are not saved.

I think that i have found what is the soluton . It's a problem about the activities. I had created more than 20 activities. Plasma don't save what activity created is the activity active. you have to do this. If you don'f you don't choose one, kde will create one always what starts.

Thanks Txutxifel , I've given that a go. Will see how that goes. Have to say they haven't made it very clear and there's no way of renaming an activity in the activity bar, you have to go to desktop / folder view settings.

This would then be a KDE-Bug. It's mentioned in a blog by Chani:

Yes, on Lucid (and was fixed in 4.5.0 when it came out from memory)
