Bug Description

Many pages are present in the KDE help center; but help:/kontact/index.html "does not exist."

Clarification: this is through Kontact itself. When I navigate to Help -> Kontact Handbook the pop-up message appears with the error.

You need to install kdepim-doc. Unfortunately we can't provide this package by default due to limited space on the CD.

Kontact was installed from Ubuntu's Add/Remove applications, not via Kubuntu. I don't see how space is a limiting factor for KDE Applications installed in Ubuntu?

No, it's the package carrying the help documentation, kdepim-doc, that is not installed by default due to the size constraints of the CD

I think what you're trying to say is, "due to the size constraints of the CD, Kubuntu has opted to include kdepim-doc as part of kdepim. The documentation is, instead, listed as a suggested package in the file pool/main/k/kdepim/kdepim_4.2.2-0ubuntu1_all.deb"?

However, I am saying that when kdepim is installed from the gnome graphical installer, "Add/Remove Applications" there is no CD to restrain the size of the application installed. In this instance it would be appropriate to also install the documentation, or at least give a warning in Kontact that explains how to go about installing the documentation package. The error message, as written, implies there is no documentation written, which is not true.

Hm. Add a negative into that statement, as follows, "due to the size constraints of the CD, Kubuntu has opted to NOT include kdepim-doc as part of kdepim."

This sounds like a job for PackageKit.

What I am saying is: this aint got nothing to do with kdepim/kontact/kpackagekit but everything with khelpcenter, and this got everything to do with being crap and being in need of a major rewrite (that is of course not possible since no one cares). Though, eventually it also got a tiny little bit to do with kdelibs (which should provide the means to use a distro's package management system/UI to add additional stuff). In any case (IMHO) it got nothing to do with a bug but a blueprint.
