Bug Description

I think, it will be useful to add to the markers' definition list six more makers to mimic sharp line endings. The definitions are:

The definitions from the comments in bug #592418 (see attached diff) are of limited use with current trunk though: the hack to match markers to stroke colors automatically causes the markers to have the same stroke attributes added (color, width) - thus being rendered wider than the stroked path itself. AFAICT the proposed additional markers to mimic tapered line ends only work as expected with Inkscape 0.48+devel if disabling the new marker features in the preferences before applying them to a stroked path.

Slightly modified version of the markers (stroke-width set to '0' to avoid a visibly added stroke due to the new feature to match markers to the (fill & stroke) style of the path), works with current trunk and default preferences.

The new markers work as expected except when you fill the object. In that case, the marker takes the fill color and its end is truncated. Note that the truncation depends on the zoom level and doesn't affect PNG export. Probably a different issue.

AFAICT this only occurs with both fill and stroke defined for the path (but not if only fill without stroke, nor if only stroke without fill). It also seems to be related to the stroke miter setting (increasing the miter limit makes the sharp end of the (filled) marker reappear, without changing the zoom level).

Agreed (not present in current stable).
