Bug Description

With Compiz's Snapping Windows plugin, the default value of resistance_distance should be changed from 30 to 18. With this smaller resistance_distance value, window snapping is still usable for those who wish to use it, but the snappiness is less pronounced and less likely to frustrate users who don't understand the behavior.

This seems to be a duplicate of longstanding Bug #160151 which is already registered upstream.

I wouldn't say this is a duplicate of bug 160151. It's more like this is a request for a workaround, and bug 160151 is a request for a fix.

I'd much rather have snapping fixed (bug 160151) than having the broken implementation tuned (this bug).

Johan, fair enough, but this bug is paper cut-sized and has someone committed to fixing it, so at least we will tune the behavior a bit. Fixing the behavior may not be considered a paper cut if it is at all an involved task, but please pursue it.

Why not just disable edge stickiness? It's broken, and I can't see who'd want to use in its current state anyway.

Bug was fixed a while ago, for some reason the lp janitor did not auto-close the bugs, probably since the bug was in compiz instead of compiz-plugins:
