Bug Description

This bug makes some recommendations for changing Scale speed and appearance (see design document linked below).

Scale animation is sped up, with other small visual tweaks. The keybindings for Scale Windows and Scale Windows (All Workspaces) are changed:

  * Scale Windows = <Super>w
  * Scale Windows (All Workspaces) = <Super>a

Previously, Scale Windows used the terrible keybinding Alt+Shift+Up, and Scale Windows (All Workspaces) did not have a keybinding.

I'm glad this is being taken into consideration - but why Super+W/A? Not trying to be critical, just wondering what the logic is there.

I guess my main issue is.. how will people know that this exists? If this were edge-bound, it would be far more user-discoverable. I doubt that most converts/normal people even know that a) the Windows key is super and b) that it can be used to do things besides push the Windows Start button.

David, after using the gnome-shell overview for a while the thing that really made a positive difference for me versus Scale was that minimised windows are shown. Is there any chance of doing the same for Scale?

Unfortunately, no. There is no system in compiz to do this as the solution metacity is using is considered a hack by the compiz developers. Writing such a system would touch every plugin that shows a thumbnail along with large changes to compiz core so would not be suitable for doing in Ubuntu.

David, you asked on the wiki if we could "make the highlighted window brighter than the rest?". The answer is... kind of :)

Have you looked at /apps/compiz/plugins/scaleaddon/screen0/options/window_highlight?
