Bug Description

In hardy-backports current version of subversion is 1.5.1dfsg1-1ubuntu2~hardy2 . This version is however imcompatible with the version of kdesvn (newest version 0.14.1-1).

Support for svn 1.5 is added in a much later version of kdesvn. From the upstream changelog:
version 1.0.0: * integrated direct support for subversion 1.5

Currently it causes these problems:
A lot of unicode related error message boxes:
"Invalid UTF-8 data
...
(hex: b0 76 47 08)"
When trying to commit kdesvn crashes.

Eg. with hardy-backports enabled fully kdesvn is useless.

I would suggest updating kdesvn in hardy-backports to the version currently in debian unstable (1.0.4-2). This would fix at least: bug 250544 , bug 268112 , bug 277049

I've done a test build of 1.0.4-2 against hardy-backports and kdesvn runs perfectly. The test build can be found here: http://awen.dk/packages/kdesvn/

Marking Incomplete. Please realize that states of bugs have a specialized meaning for backports. Marking High since package is completely unusable with backports repo enabled.

Under normal circumstances, we only backport packages from Ubuntu releases, although in some rare cases, we have bent this rule (i.e. KDE 3.5.10). I might consider this backport request if its essential that we fix this now. Since jaunty still won't be open for some time, I will talk with the other backports on doing this backport.

I've created a backporting test candiate. Can you please test the following binary from our PPA to see if it works for you? This will speed up the time to releasing the backport should we choose to backport it.

Thanks for looking into it. I've tested the version uploaded to the backports-testers PPA (1.0.4-2~hardy1) and it works flawlessly for me both as standalone application and as a kio-plugin in konqueror.

Thank you, I also tested and confirmed it. Scott agreed that given the unique circumstances of this backport, adding the package from sid is appropriate and this should be uploaded to Backports relatively soon. Marking confirmed.

Uploaded to hardy-backports. It won't be available until after an archive admin manually accepts it.
