Bug Description

Binary package hint: bzr-svn

bzr pull (or push, or branch) throws segmentation fault on current Hardy (with hardy-backports enabled).

I assume it’s because hardy-backports now ships Subversion 1.5 – when I downgraded the subversion, libsvn1 and python-subversion packages to their 1.4 versions from the main hardy repository bzr-svn works.

Would it be possible to upload to hardy-backports a version of bzr-svn that works with Subversion 1.5 and Bazaar 1.3?

I can confirm this is caused by the newer subversion.

It seems adding the Bazaar PPA from https://launchpad.net/~bzr/+archive gives a working bzr + bzr-svn combo.

(If that’s the correct way to handle hardy-backports-enabled installs, feel free to resolve this bug.)

The newer bzr-svn needs a newer bzr, so that's the route to fix this. Simple rebuilding is not sufficient.

(When backporting, note that the current Bazaar – 1.8 – has not yet a compatible bzr-svn release; the last working triple is Bazaar 1.7, Subversion 1.5 and bzr-svn 0.4.13.)

There *is* a verison of bzr-svn that works with bzr 1.8 - bzr-svn 0.4.13 works with bzr 1.8 and Debian experimental has a version of bzr-svn that also silences the compatibility warning.

Well since we all love bzr, how about we backport the latest bzr stack while we're at it?

Ah, perfect. Can this version be uploaded to the Bazaar PPA at
https://launchpad.net/~bzr/+archive please? That would be most
helpful.

FWIW, the bzr’s PPA for Hardy was just updated to carry a working bzr, bzrtools, bzr-svn trifecta. Thanks a ton to Jelmer for uploading it there!
