Bug Description

Apparently the new version of the "web browser" (3.0.5) looks for a user profile inside .mozilla that is called "web browser" instead of "firefox". The previous version was using and saving the user profile inside the folder .mozilla/firefox.

So after the upgrade, because there is no ".mozilla/web broswer" folder (but a ".mozilla/firefox" instead), the "web browser" starts creating a new profile. Effectively the user sees that his settings (including bookmarks, etc) are lost.

To remedy to this, I renamed the folder "firefox" inside "~/.mozilla" as "web broswer" and I succesfully restored my full settings.

Of course this should be performed during the upgrade automatically, hence I file this bug report to request it.

An alternative solution is to create a symbolic link.

Browse "Home Folder"
View -> Show hidden Files
Open ".mozilla"
Right-click "firefox" -> Make link
Rename link "web browser"

This should be part of the update.

Setting as confirmed, since lots of people are affected as a consequence of the update (see forum below).

The issue is that firefox is looking for .mozilla/web browser instead of .mozilla/firefox. A way to add a symlink or move the folder is needed.

How did that get into it?

is the power of sed :P
The problem is that it was detected and other than fixing it, now some projects need that location, so a way to move to .mozilla/web browser is needed.

another problem that isn't fixed by renaming the folder is the "windows" key no longer toggles full screen mode in Firefox or Epiphany web browsers.
