Bug Description

upgraded to feisty beta.

one (of 2 ) hard disks no longer visible (no /home)

multiple messages:
device-mapper: table: 254:5: linear: dm-linear: Device lookup failed

booting into livecd and running gparted shows that disk as unformatted -- no partitions visible.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. What does the output of 'fdisk -l /dev/hdX' return where X is the hard drive that is not seen? Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I assumed nothing was happening with this repost, so I reinstalled last night.

There was basically NO partition table left on /dev/sda.

gpart had fatal errors trying to read it.

The disk in question was the original 20G disk, which had been repartitioned several times & had quite a complex layout.

I'm sorry that we didn't get to your bug report sooner. However, with the disk currently being "fixed" I am not sure how can debug this issue further.
