Bug Description

Hi, thanks for looking,

I downloaded the most recent version of Ubuntu last night, and attempted an install. The install went smoothly, languages,
networking, etc .. until the 'Install Base System' step. At 20% I recieved an error about a Floppy, I went to console 3 and
this is the error:

FATAL: Error inserting floppy (/lib/modules/2.6.8.1-3-386/kernal/drives/block/floppy): No such device

 No matching physical volumes found
 No volume groups found
 Reading all physical volumes. This may take a while...
tar: ./usr/share/man/man3/Locale::gettext.3pm.gz: Invalid Argument

Ok, so I am on an Asus M6N notebook that has no floppy. If you need any more hardware info or error info, I will be happy to
let you know. Hope thats enough, Thanks again, Al.

The floppy error isn't important; it's the error there from tar that's relevant.

Sounds to me like a problem with your hard disk ... does
/target/usr/share/man/man3/ exist?
