Bug Description

|This "bug" is hardware-based in origin & involves:
   --Acer Aspire 5315 (Notebook Computer)

|Specifically, it describes the failure of the internal hardware-based cooling apparatus to function "out-of-the-box", of which can result in:
--Forced shutdown of the operating system due to heat accumulation
--Potentially can result in the loss of data
--Potentially can result in permanent damage to hardware
--Potentially can result in temporary damage to hardware
   --It is really annoying!

|I have, however, have had past dealings with this issue with other Linux distributions have discovered the following through my past dealings with this issue:
--When using Ubuntu 11.10 "Oneiric Ocelot":
Forcing the notebook computer to "Hibernate" & booting afterwards results in the successful initiation of the cooling apparatus until shutdown or reboot. It is worth noting that further research indicated that the issue could possibly be derived from the fact that Acer includes a Windows program that manages power usage & this issue could possibly be derived from the absence of that very program, & that, for some, an update to the BIOS resulted in the resolution to this issue.
   --When using Lubuntu 11.10:
                No solution was available.

|Potential solutions tried:
--Hibernating & rebooting failed; Computer overheated & shutdown as a result
--Updating BIOS; Could not run update in WINE, thought it was worth a shot

|Any Thoughts?
