the "indicator applet" no longer shows which layout is currently selected - it only shows an icon of a keyboard.

Don't know if this is the case described in the title, but in my installation of Natty indicator shows the current keyboard layout (I have 3 keyboard layouts).
If I delete all the layouts except one, keyboard layout indicator disappears.
As for me, this is not a real bug, but a confusing issue.

This is not the case for me. The description of my problem is very close to the title of this bug (except for "no longer shows" part that should be "doesn't show" in my case, because it never worked for me, actually). Although, my report is not very reliable: my system is not Ubuntu, but Ubuntu based (Trisquel).
I have three layouts, but current layout was not shown (the indicator *was* on the panel in the form of static icon, that resembles keyboard).

This problem took place in my Trisquel 4.5, and had not disappeared after upgrade to Trisquel 5.0.

Workaround that finally solved my problem:
I created "New Panel", added to the new panel all I need (including "Indicator Applet"), removed the old (standard) panel. Now I have my layout indication working correctly.

Closing Ubuntu task because it happens with Trisquel, not pure Ubuntu. Please close the ubuntu-indicator-mods task as well of you no longer experince this.
