Bug Description

When I have calc open, often when I switch back to the tab (today I even pasted something in a cell) and it just closed.
Other times, when calc is open and I try to open a writer doc, it just closes and neither opens.
I mostly have calc open. I wasn't able to make it happen on command by just opening a lot of writer files.

Ah. I turned on apport, will see if it can catch the next time it crashes. Wouldn't crash on demand for me..

I am also having problems with LIbreOffice crashing in LInux Mint LMDE. New install of the OS, and updated versions of LibreOffice of both 3.4.3 and 3.3.4 downloaded from libreoffice.org.
Sometimes it just kills X and a login screen appears, sometimes the computer freezes and requires a hard reboot to restart.

Oh, good someone responded.
It seems nearly all of my OS issues- hanging on shutdown, X dying and having to log back in.. have been because of a (new) hard drive with bad sectors. I just replaced the HD and things have been much smoother sailing.

Actually, just nixing the encrypted private folder helped a lot with the open office issues. (encryption is less tolerant of read errors?) But for everything, I needed a new HD.

Smilingfrog, is your HD OK?

No, the disk it is installed on has no bad sectors. I have been running LibreOffice without difficulty (still) when I boot up in ubuntu 10.04.
What is the encrypted folder you refer to called?

An encrypted home folder, it was an option during the install. I'm pretty sure it just exacerbated the disk error issues.
I've undid the encrypted home and the issue mostly went away... If your disk is OK then you probably have a very different issue.
This can probably be closed as "not a bug" or something.
