Bug Description
Binary package hint: indicator-applet
It used to show a hint message when you left the mouse hovering over one of the icons in the top panel, such as the city you where showing the temperature and weather report, or the battery estimated time to recharge (at least percentage of charge), ssid of the network, and probably wifi speed... Now, under unity, nothing ! you need to click to view the menu, and with any luck, figure out what the current status is (like the audio volume level, by the position of the scroll in the bar)

I find tooltips annoying, because there is no control over them (just delay), and when they appear they often obscure the very thing that you're trying to interact with. This helps the notification area feel less cluttered unlike the old version.
However, much less information is accessible since they've gone.
Possible solutions:
* Integrate _all_ information that tooltips used to show into the menus.
* Bring back tooltips but only show them when a chosen modifier key is pressed. (And /not/ right under the pointer!)
If this sounds like it will bring back clutter, then add options. I'd like an option to see the charge percentage and volume percentage.
I wouldn't be surprised if the removal of tooltips was intended, so I'm renaming this bug.
