Bug Description

Binary package hint: libreoffice-voikko

Update:

This bug report was originally filed against libreoffice, but the problem lies in libreoffice-voikko instead. Bug #917510 was the original report about that.

Original bug report:

Libreoffice seems to crash randomly on exit. Half a minute after closing the window the crash notification shows up. I'm using Natty. Sometimes the recovery dialog shows upon restart which is the only annoyance of this bug.

Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

This is a bug of libreoffice-voikko, not libreoffice itself, which is why many Finnish people see this problem. The libreoffice-voikko upstream is aware of the problem, but no-one there has proposed a fix so far.

Since this is an earlier report than the actual bug #917510 which was filed against libreoffice-voikko, I'm modifying this bug report to represent the actual problem.

If you are subscriber to this bug by one of the duplicates it has, but you do not have libreoffice-voikko installed, please detach your bug report from this one. I may do that myself as well if I can separate Finnish users from the rest (separating first one of the bugs and then marking others duplicates of that one).

affects: libreoffice (Ubuntu) → libreoffice-voikko (Ubuntu)
summary: - libreoffice (soffice.bin) crashes on exit.
+ libreoffice (soffice.bin) crashes on exit because of libreoffice-voikko

Possible non-duplicates moved to be a duplicate of bug #864142.

As a positive correction to my previous message, I had forgotten that actually upstream had a fix two months ago, the Debian bug report was just not closed and the fix was not mentioned in the release notes.

So, this bug is actually fixed now in the upcoming Ubuntu 12.04 LTS as well, which has libreoffice-voikko 3.3. The commit fixing the problem is http://voikko.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/voikko?view=revision&revision=4081
