Bug Description

Binary package hint: unity

On clicking an item on the Unity launcher that brings up a transparent desktop overlay (such as 'Applications' or 'Files and Folders') it's intuitive to click it again (or perhaps right click it) to dismiss the overlay and return to the desktop.
However, when one of these overlays is opened up using a launcher item, the only way to dismiss it is to click the Ubuntu icon on the top panel. Left-clicking the launcher item does not have any effect at all and right clicking the launcher results in a context menu bubble appearing (saying 'Open') underneath the overlay (and insensitive until the overlay has been dismissed - this may be a separate bug report - i.e. why does it appear at all if the overlay is already open? And why does the 'Open' menu bubble remain there are the overlay has been dismissed and is itself unable to be dismissed without actually choosing the 'Open' item?)

It would be expected that when a launcher item is clicked, to dismiss the resulting overlay without choosing an item presented in the overlay you could simply click (or right click) the same launcher item to dismiss, rather the counter-intuitive action of having to move the mouse to the top left corner of the screen.

Hi Alex, thanks for the reply.
This is not what happens on my machine. I wasn't really asking for a new feature, moreso trying to advise that this behaviour (which I expected) was not present for me at the time.
