Please add details as to the situation (was it after an update? ) in which the error occurred.

updated a flashdisk live setup

Well this said flashdisk has not enough place to hold your installation.
Consider migrating to bigger one.

If not possible clean it up with
apt-get clean
or removing unneeded packages:
dpkg -P <packagename>
