Bug Description

Binary package hint: cohoba

I am running this on my macbook pro with beryl (the compiz fork) and xgl. When I the applet to the panel in gnome and try to launch any of the preference or chat windows from it, all the windows appear borderless, meaning they cant be closed or moved. They also steal focus from all other windows, so when this happens all I can do is restart x manually.

Sorry we don't support beryl :(

Anyway, i guess you have some problem with some X extension.
background_pixmap_something, could you test it with compiz?

Sorry - this is more of a Beryl problem - it's not even in Ubuntu. You might have better luck asking the Beryl maintainers and authors for pointers how to fix it.

Just checked and this is an issue for me with metacity under XGL as well, although it could be an XGL issue i guess

This happens to me too. All I need to do is re-start x and it seems to be fixed.

Built in desktop effects seem to be working fine on a Macbook (not pro). Try those.

Thanks for your bug report.

Jon:
Is this problem reproducible under regular Xorg too? Is the problem reproducible using the XGL in Feisty?
