Bug Description

Binary package hint: cups

OS INFO

Description: Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS
Release: 10.04

PACKAGE INFO

cups:
  Installé : 1.4.3-1ubuntu1.2
  Candidat : 1.4.3-1ubuntu1.2

---------------------------------------------------------

I first tried to use system-config-printer (then to apport the bug with this package but apport-bug and ubuntu-bug said the package doesn't exist)

I tried to use theses drivers :

lexmark-08z-series-driver-1.0-1.i386.deb.sh
lexmark-inkjet-09-driver-1.5-1.i386.deb.sh
Lexmark_S600_Series_D060810_00_FWUpdate.i386.sh
Lexmark_S600_Series_E060810_00_FWUpdate.i386.sh

It didn't works because theses are x86 drivers and not x64 drivers.

I'm desesperate to find any solution to fix it !

Thanks in advance !

Please give us some more information, see also https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems.

Do you only have the Lexmark S600 or also a Lexmark 3400?

Are these printers inkjet or laser printers?

How are your printer(s) connected? Via USB, network, ...? Is a USB-to-parallel adapeter used?

Does "lsusb" list entries for all your printers which you are using via USB?

Can you install the "ia64-libs" package and try to install and run the manufacturer-supplied drivers again?

Note also that for using apport-bug you have to supply the name of a binary package and not of a source package. For system-config-printer it is system-config-printer-common. Note also that this bug is not a problem of system-config-printer.

Sorry, the name of the package which you should install to get 32-bit executable compatibility is "ia32-libs".

This is a S600 inkjet lexmark, it is connected via USB (non USB-to-parallel adapter)

lsusb doesn't list the Lexmark S600

I tried ia64-libs" but it doesn't fix the problem :s and it was the manufacturer drivers I downloaded on the official Lexmark Website.

I also contacted Lexmark Assistance to get more help.

This shows that the problem is on the kernel level. Moving to the kernel ...

affects: cups (Ubuntu) → linux (Ubuntu)
