I've had the same experience. See my post in bug 605551 which seems to be a duplicate. Also see bug 5954897, where it looks like the 2-6-35 kernel has the same bug.

Cheers,
Oscar

Same behavior on my machine, Intel Q6600 running 10.04.1 LTS x86_64 with linux-image-2.6.32-24-generic version 2.6.32-24.38. Behavior disappears if I boot into previous version 2.6.32-23.37.

Yep same experience here using kernel linux-image-2.6.32-24-server amd64.

Going back to the old kernel (2.6.32-23) and the problem goes away.

Can someone please consider doing new 2.6.32-24 packages with the fix from here?

This was solved in my case with the 2.6.32-24.41 update. I was running 2.6.32-24.39 since a few days which has the issue with lvcreate for a snapshot hanging all IO and this is now resolved.

Can't edit my entry, I wanted to say that the issues is now resolved for me.

yes, 2.6.32-24.41solved that problem for me, too!

Changed in linux (Ubuntu):
status: New → Fix Released

Is it possible that there has been a regression? I have this on 2.6.32-45.
