Bug Description

Binary package hint: deluge

Deluge uses a huge amount of RAM, beginning at 600MB on startup and topping 1GB after a few hours. It also uses quite a lot of CPU time and occasionally the GUI hangs for several seconds while the process uses 100% of one CPU core.

I have about 150 torrents queued totaling a couple of hundred GB, but only eight are supposed to be active simultaneously. Removing all torrents does not fix the issue by itself, but restarting after that does.

I can reproduce this with Deluge 1.2.2 and 1.2.3 (from PPA) on Lucid.

I can confirm this is same issue in ubuntu lucid with deluge-gtk 1.2.2-2 (version in official repository).

But now it seems to be fixed in latest deluge stable from ppa, everything works fine for me in latest version from ppa. 1.2.3+git20100701.131af5a-2~lucid~ppa1

I think deluge in ubuntu repository must be upgraded to this version of deluge to get it working fine. Is it possible?

I'm seeing over 100% CPU usage (have dual core processor) and more than 1 Gb RAM usage under completely normal usage (2-3 linux ISO file torrents running)

Also, normal "Quit" / clicking on the red cross doesn't shut the application normally any more - I have to actively kill it...

I was using deluge (deluged and deluge-web) a lot in ubuntu 10.04 with no problems. A few days ago I upgraded to 10.10 beta and the computer started running incredibly slowly. It turns out that the deluged process was huge.

Adding the deluge-team/ppa PPA, replacing 'maverick' with 'lucid' (because there seems to be no maverick repo there) and running this has fixed the problem:

sudo apt-get install deluge-common=1.2.3+git20100701.131af5a-2~lucid~ppa1 deluged=1.2.3+git20100701.131af5a-2~lucid~ppa1 deluge-web=1.2.3+git20100701.131af5a-2~lucid~ppa1

The deluged process is now back to a comfortable 70MB instead of a crippling 700MB.

This looks like it could be the same bug.

The same here, on Ubuntu Maverick 10.10 Beta (latest updates at this moment) - Deluge Core Version: 1.3.0, libtorrent version: 0.15.3.0
I have 4 torrents, 1 is active. After the 30 minutes, deluge become completely unusable - no download/upload, memory usage goes up to 1GB and cannot exit the program, forced to kill it.
