I seem to get:

Setting up libc6 (2.11.1-0ubuntu7) ...
tail: error reading `/etc/ld.so.conf': Is a directory
/var/lib/dpkg/info/libc6.postinst: 328: cannot create /etc/ld.so.conf: Is a directory

I think this could be because the HP Value Add software for my DL/360 server has created htis directory. I've renamed this folder to something else and the upgrade is proceeding.

Indeed. All confirmed working after the upgrade.

It seems the HP Value Add pack for HP Servers creates an ld.so.conf directory to include some files. I renamed this to something else and the upgrade continues, then just had to copy whatever was in the original folder into the /etc/ld.so.conf.d after upgrade.

I can confirm this problem and the suggested fix on an HP server with the HP Value Add pack.

not an issue with eglibc. Please report the problem where you did download the "HP Value Add software"
