multiple undo-redo skips steps when using track changes

Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

I am editing a document with track changes enabled.
Sometimes when I hit redo for several times, some of the changes I have made are skipped and are not undone, and the undo goes one step before them. Redo and then undo again does not fix this - has the same problem.

For example if I change some paragraph and put A, and change another and put B, and change another and put C.
If I hit undo twice I would expect that C is removed and then B is removed and I am left with A.
But sometimes, only B is removed while A and C are still standing.

This is a too simple example, and probably cannot be reproduced but I have seen similar behaviour many times in texts of size 20-30 pages and with many (dozens or even hundreds tracked changes).

I have noticed this also under Windows.

If you can manage to make a reproducible test case please attach it so that I can send the report to the developers.

I was working on a revision of a book > 1000 pages, with literally dozen of thousands of corrections with mainly tracked changes. This was so large and so slow even with shown changes that it was unmanageble even after just few pages so I had to split the book in parts of 30-50 pages. But this is expected behaviour so it does not matter.

Previously I have only used "track changes" a couple of times in rather small ammounts (<20 changes per document) and have seen no problems at all.

The point is that it is a huge effort and I have seen it only a couple of times so I don't know if I am going to be able to reproduce it, and I am bound by a legal agreement so I cannot share the document where it happened.

The text was a plain text with not intentional usage of styles and formatting, no pictures and only occasional tables. But, I think that the last time this happed was when making correction within a table, adding lines, deleting lines, going to the text editing the text outside the table and then undo and I think that the undo did not undo the changes to the table, just to the main text. I cannot even recall correctly now because after my first report I have gone thru 400 pages and I didn't have similar problem.

Well, first, in this case we have a rule not to use any styles so we definitely dont have heading styles. We don't use

Second, the situation I am trying to describe is more like undo does not undo some actions at all. It is more like this - you have two paragraphs and a table between, you make some changes in the first paragraphs, make changes in the table, then make changes in the last paragraph and start undoing, so the changes in the paragraphs are undone, but the changes in the table are not.

I was not able to reproduce it in any way, but such a behaviour happened 2-3 times before I submitted the bug report.

Being a software engineer I know it's almost impossible to find a bug with such a vague description and no possibility to reproduce it, but I filed it in case another one experiences similar behaviour.

[This is an automated message.]
There are no new official OpenOffice.org releases in Ubuntu packaging anymore => Won't Fix

If the problem persists, please mark this bug as "also affects project Libreoffice" or "also affects distribution Libreoffice (Ubuntu)" if that has not happened already.

Please leave references to upstream OpenOffice.org bugs in place to allow cross pollination.
