Hi Chih Ho,

Thanks a lot for testing translations. I believe all those menu entries are already translated, they just happen to have the same or very similar translation to English.

I'm assigning the French team to the bug. They can confirm it best.

I think this might not be a bug related to translations or incomplete translations.

I think the problem might simply be that the test was done with an English installation in which the locale was then changed to French.

This should in theory work just as well as an installation in which the language has been chosen at the start, but I believe due to bug 553162 parts of the desktop might be shown in English. So I think it's better to test translations with full installations started in the given language.

Hi,

Thanks for the bug report and comments.

Gnome menus are fully translated in French. I've just tried the latest ubuntu iso in a virtual machine and all menu entries are correctly translated.

Hi Bruno, thanks for the comments. I tried to do a fresh install with French as the default language and still had similar findings. As I am a total stranger to French, maybe the items I pointed out simply spelled identically as in English or they are product names where translation is not necessary. Yes?

Bruno, after further verification, I got one possible missing translation (Terminal Server Client) that needs your verification. Please see the attached screen shot for your reference. Thank you.

Thanks for testing French translations. Everything is fine in gnome menus. Some words are spelled identically in French and English, like "Applications", "Documents", "Images", etc. and we always keep applications names in English (e.g. Terminal Server Client).

I've marked this bug as "fix released" since gnome menus are correctly translated in French in Lucid pre release, thanks to GNOME French translators ;-)
