Bug Description
Binary package hint: udev
I added a new DVD drive to my system and the drive door would not open or would partially open and close immediately
I killed the process pktcdvd and the drive door operated correctly
sudo pktsetup -d /dev/pktcdvd0

I'm afraid that's just how the kernel works here -- if there is a process which keeps accessing the CD-ROM, it will try to read it and thus close it again. You have to properly unmount a CD before you can reject it. If that doesn't cause the pktcdvd process to be killed automatically, this is a bug in pktcdvd, reassigning.
