Bug Description

When I put vlc to fullscreen then I still see the top menu af gnome. Don't think it's a problem of vlc. But don't know what the problem is.

I think it is? I can't get vlc to get to full screen. You always see the gnome top and bottom panels. And I can remember something with alternate full screen. That we tryed that, but wasn't a succes. I also have a amd64 dapper ubuntu installation. And I wasn't dependand on the video file. Totem does a real full screen. And vlc with the gnome bars top and bottom of the screen. I love the F key on my keyboard in totem to get the video file full screen. Love vlc except the full screen function on my system.

I notice that the latest Edgy VLC has this bug, I am not sure if it was fixed at any point.

Actually, it works here when using Beryl only on edgy here with VLC
0.8.6-svn20061012.debian-1ubuntu1. This may indicate a bug with
Metacity, as it only appears with that.

I use xfwm4 in Edgy. Only when I disable Settings> Preferences> Video> (Advanced Options>) Window decorations, fullscreen works as expected. As far as I'm aware, this behavior is intentional.

Please make sure you can reproduce this symptom in at least four different window managers.
