wrong glide library

Bug Description

Binary package hint: libglide3

this package sould enable direct rendering on 3dfx -defunct hardware- cards trhough the tdfx module
in the package there are 2 files:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 238236 2005-09-20 10:14 libglide3_h3.so.3.10.0
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 514908 2005-09-20 10:14 libglide3_h5.so.3.10.0
but they should be this:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 717198 2006-07-18 15:23 libglide3.a
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 585607 2006-07-18 15:23 libglide3.so
in order to enable direct render properly.
this files can be found on glide.sf.net, but there are not included into the libglide3 package

The package is correct. .a files and .so symlinks are in the -dev
package where they belong.

i though -dev means development and these packages includes source or
static. thanks for the explanation.
¿what about making libglide3 package to depend on libglide3-dev in
order to use .a and .so files? direct rendering would be used by
default

.a is a static library and .so is a symlink. These are only needed for
compiling and not runtime.

if i not use libglide3.so (the one included in libglide3-dev) i get this:

libGL error: Can't open configuration file /root/.drirc: No such file or directory.
libGL error: can't find Glide library, dlopen(libglide3-v5.so) and dlopen(libglide3.so) both failed.
libGL error:
dlerror() message: libglide3.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
