I just experienced this myself, exact same traceback. My install won't start at all.

@Greg gwibber not starting at all might be bug#530716

@Omer: Looks like it could be since the traceback indicates an error in gwibber's couch.py (or at least communication with the counchdb). I'll keep this bug open until bug 530716 has been resolved in Lucid and see if that was the underlying issue here.

@Omer and anyone else: btw, the reasoning I used to keep this bug open instead of marking it a duplicate of that couchdb bug is because this way all apport crashes will be marked a duplicate of this one. I don't believe LP would mark them a duplicate of this bug or the couchdb bug if this was marked a duplicate of that. Meaning, as soon as someone else experiences this issue, it will just open a new bug.

Gwibber now starts for me after the release of bug #530716 's fix.

If someone else can confirm this, I think we can mark this as invalid due to not being a bug with Gwibber.

i have downloaded the latest distro and still am getting the same
error. Gwibber opened up but still exited with an error.

@Brian: could you provide the traceback from when Gwibber crashes for you? If you are running Lucid, it should offer to report a bug when it crashes. Please go through the process of reporting it and comment back here with that bug number.

@Chris: This bug is now fixed for me in desktopcouch 0.6.2-0ubuntu3 and gwibber 2.29.90.1-0ubuntu2. Once we see Brian's traceback we can move forward.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for making that bug public.

The traceback for that bug report is different than this bug report, thus, it is a different bug :)

I will close this one now.

Best,

Greg
