Bug Description

The broken link is in https://launchpad.net/~petri/+archive/ppa/+packages. The link target is https://launchpad.net/~petri/+archive/ppa/+files/jansson_1.2.orig.tar.gz.

The fix is to make Archive.getFileByName return an unexpired LFA (if possible), rather than blindly returning the oldest one in the archive.

Workaround for people interested in getting the source code is to "apt-get source" the package.

I get the same problem when I put the following text (no quotes) in my Software Sources (Other Software) dialogue in Ubuntu 9.10: "ppa:qgis/stable". The message I get is:

Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/qgis/stable/ubuntu/dists/karmic/main/binary-i386/Packages.gz 404 Not Found

Any idea why?

teyesahr, that PPA has no karmic packages and is unrelated to this bug.

The Soyuz problem is that it's expiring PPA sources in the librarian a bit over-zealously. It's seeing that a package was superseded but not taking into account that the .orig file can be shared with a later version.

In any case, the link rendering is bad, it should not be available for expired librarian files.
